Haywire movie is indeed one badass film to kickstart 2012. It is a story about a black ops super soldier that seeks payback after she learned that she was betrayed and set up during a mission. A film with great ensemble, suave direction courtesy of Steven Soderbergh and overall fierce movie.

Gina Carano may not be shining bright yet as an actress in this film but come on, give the lady some benefit of the doubt and besides the girl could kick ass and could really do those action stunts amazingly. In all fairness, she has that charming look on screen despite the obvious fact that she’s a bit awkward in delivering her lines. Soderbergh managed to downplay Carano’s flaw by showcasing the girl’s fierce action moves. The great ensemble including actors Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Channing Tatum and Michael Fassbender also did help a lot.

The fight scenes were all done in great taste and editing. Another great thing about the film is that, the stunts and action scenes were all seem realistic and not out of this world superhero type of fight scenes.

Overall, Haywire is one great action film to watch! Expect to be amazed with MMA superstar Gina Carano’s moves but do not expect much with her dialogue delivery.

“We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart,” the two told People  magazine exclusively in announcing their split.

In their statement, they described their relationship as “seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage,” and their split as “amicable.”

The couple has three children  Henry, 6, Johan, 5, and newest daughter Lou, 2 while in 2009 Seal adopted Heidi Klum’s daughter Leni, 7, from previous relationship.

Their separation is indeed sad to hear especially that many believed that the two are living in a happy fairytale. Well, let us just hope the best for the both of them.

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are back!

We know we missed these two gorgeous and witty guys – Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson

Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law are back together on the big screen as they reprise their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson in the Guy Ritchie-directed film Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows. Many hesitated that a follow-up film is in fact needed. Well, the first 2009 Sherlock Holmes that Guy Ritchie also directed was a big success that it is kind of scary to touch it once more. Even actor Jude Law was hesitant at first because he wanted to end the film and his tandem with Robert Downey Jr. while they are on top of their game. However, according to the actor, reading the script, meeting with Downey and Guy Ritchie again made him realize that they can still do it… and I personally think they did.

Sherlock Holmes is undoubtedly one smart, witty and charming detective. His attention was called when he learned about the death of Austria’s crown prince. The evidences all pointed to the angle of suicide but Holmes deduces that the prince was murdered and that the crime was a piece of a puzzle designed by equally genius yet devious Moriarty. With this, Holmes, together with his friend and partner Dr. Watson and the gypsy Madam Simza Heron, Sim chased after Moriarty hoping to put an end to his evil plan.

The film was indeed full of exciting actions, especially loved the slow-motion effects, lots of witty dialogues and scenes courtesy of the great Robert Downey, Jr and a little pinch of drama with Holmes and Dr. Watson’s friendship. I especially loved the ending of this Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadow. Well, if there’s one thing lacking in the film is a bigger exposure of Rachel McAdams‘ character Irene Adler. Her scene with Holmes at the beginning of the movie was really good so hoping to see more of Irene Adler on the next film (if there will be another).

All in all, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is a great one. Director Guy Ritchie did a fantastic job (again) and of course Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law are just amazing.

His opening line? “So, where was I? Nervous? Don’t be. This isn’t about you.”

On the Golden Globes vs. the Oscars: “The Golden Globes are to the Oscars what Kim Kardashain is to Kate Middleton … Bit louder, bit trashier, bit drunker, and more easily bought — allegedly.”

On Eddie Murphy’s style: “I love Eddie Murphy. He loves dressing up, doesn’t he?”

On Jodie Foster’s “beaver”: “I haven’t seen it myself,” he said. “It doesn’t mean it’s not very good.”

On Justin Bieber’s parternity test: “The only way he could impregnate a girl is if he borrowed one of Martha Stewart’s turkey basters.”

Gervais said Golden Globes organizers gave him a list of rules this year. “This is real: no profanity, that’s fine — I’ve got a huge vocabulary,” he joked. “No nudity. See that’s a shame, because Iv’e got a huge … vocabulary, but tiny penis. It works, I don’t care. It’s fine. No smut or innuendo. Or I’m not to libel any one. And I musn’t mention Mel Gibson this year.”

Gervais mocked first presenter Johnny Depp: “Have you seen ‘The Tourist’ yet?,” poking fun at the box-office results of Depp’s 2010 movie, co-starring Angelina Jolie.

Only 30 minutes into the show, Gervais told winners to keep their speeches tight, telling winners to avoid thanking everyone they know. “We’re already five minutes over,” he said. “Keep your speeches short … Just do your main two: your agent and God … God and my agent have had exactly the same amount of input into my career.”

However, Gervais seemed to meet a match when Madonna fired back after the host introduced her as “just like a virgin”. Madonna said “If I’m still just like a virgin, Ricky, then why don’t you come over here and do something about it?” She paused. “I haven’t kissed a girl in a few years. …on TV”. Madonna just hit the target perfectly!

It is noticeable that People’s Choice Awards’ resident guest Johnny Depp is missing this year considering his two awards. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows star are also absent in the show.

Meanwhile, fans were shocked to see Twilight star Robert Pattinson with his new do. What do you think? I’m sure many hearts were shattered to see that the Edward hairdo that they love the most is now gone. Well, it will grow back soon for sure.
