It is not only 2011 that ended for Katy Perry and Russell Brand as Brand filed for divorce before New Year’s Eve. After 14 months of being married, the two decided to put an end to their marriage citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason in the documents filed by the British comic star in Los Angeles, CA.
The issue that the two are experiencing problems in their marriage started over Christmas wherein the two were seen in two different destinations Katy in Hawaii with friends and Russell in London with both of them not wearing their wedding ring.
According to some sources, Katy wanted Russell to file the divorce papers because she is afraid to disappoint her religious parents. Katy’s parents are evangelical Christians and she was raised believing that divorce is wrong. It is also not a hidden fact that Katy’s parents were not in favor of the marriagewith Russell at the beginning so this must’ve added to Katy’s worries.
Russell said in a brief statement, “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”
Katy Perry was still with friends in Hawaii to celebrate New Year’s Eve while Russell Brand was seen at a luxury party at the Savoy Hotel in his homeland London.
