Neve Campbell may soon have a series in Lifetime network via “Sworn to Silence“.
Campbell who is well-known for portraying the character Sidney Prescott in Scream franchise and of course for playing the role Julia Salinger in Party of Five is in talks with Lifetime to star in the two-hour-made-for-television-movie which is going to be a backdoor pilot for a future series.
Lifetime is developing the drama “Sworn to Silence,” which depicts an Amish community in Painter’s Mill, Ohio that “is shattered when a series of brutal murders leaves the town with a sense of frailty and loss of innocence,” according to a statement from the network.
Neve will play the role of Kate Burkholder, a woman returns to Painter’s Mill 15 years after she left her Amish life behind when she survived the murders. Burkholder comes back to her hometown to become the chief of police. A murder investigation triggers deep-seated emotions from her childhood and exposes dark secret that could destroy her.
The script is based on the book of the same title by Linda Castillo. Neve Campbell is also co-executive producing the project along with other development deals with the network to produce scripted dramas and original movies.
“Growing our scripted programming remains a top priority for Lifetime and our longform strategy provides us with a strong stable from which to identify potential series,” Lifetime president Nancy Dubuc said in a statement. “I’ve always admired Neve’s work. She is a proven talent who will bring a high level of intensity and presence to this role and ‘Sworn to Silence.’”
Neve Campbell was last seen in the much-talked about comeback of Scream franchise – Scream 4 with fellow Scream alumni David Arquette and Courtney Cox.
