The Vow

Have you seen Rachel McAdam’s and Channing Tatum’s “The Vow”?

“The Vow” is a story about married couple who got into an accident and because of the accident the girl loss all it’s memory of the guy so the guy tries to win back her wife.

“The Vow” Movie Review

Many people are surely anticipating for the movie “The Vow“. Well, who wouldn”t – you got the lead female of tearjerkers love stories “The Notebook” and “The Time Traveler’s WifeRachel McAdams and the lead male of “Dear JohnChanning Tatum. You probably expect another tearjerker kind of movie in “The Vow” but do not expect much, if you haven’t seen the film yet.

The movie is based on a true story and it was wonderful indeed but I think it lacks spices and drama for a film. Going to the movie theater to see this film, I made sure to bring a box of Kleenex but to my surprise the movie ended with my box of Kleenex untouched. Yes. There were no tears considering the fact that I am a cry-baby (imagine I cried watching Cars 1).

But, do not get me wrong. I loved the film! I love Rachel McAdams. I strongly believe that she’s a perfect leading lady for all these love story films. Her perkiness, her smile, her tears will surely bring you closer to the film. Playing the part of Paige who suffered from brain injuries is not very easy to portray. There were lots of scenes wherein she’s just showcasing blank stares and confusions, but McAdams managed to bring magic into her role that makes the audience rooting for her. Channing Tatum as Leo was also great in this film. He brought his acting prowess to another level. He was no longer the goodie good boy who seems confused if not clueless. In this film, Tatum showed that he can act. You can feel the frustration of a guy whom his wife doesn’t remember. You can feel the pain in him. You can feel hope, love and there’s also the fate which he strongly believes in the film. The chemistry between the two lead actors were just amazing.

The Vow

Despite the great acting of the two lead actors, the script does not seem enough to level the standard of “The Notebook”, “Dear John” and “The Time Traveler’s Wife”. There seems to be missing. Sure, you will see yourself smiling as you watched the story how the two met and how they fell in love but there’s not much depth into it. Marriage vow of Leo was moving but you cannot see enough reasons why Paige shall go back to him no matter what.

Overall, the film would make you want to believe in fate and destiny but again, you should not expect to cry watching this movie “The Vow”.
